Podfic and permission statements

We've had an anon query asking for guidance about requests for podfic, and we thought rather than contacting people individually, we'd just make a post. Hi!
For podficcers looking for creators with blanket permissions statements (meaning you don't have to contact them to ask before podficcing their works), try checking:
For people who requested podfic in their sign-up (or even if you didn't):
Statements can give blanket permission (i.e. covering all kinds of transformative works, from remixes and translations to podfic) or be targeted to specific media. You can include notes such as "please send me a link to the posted work" or not. You don't have to request podfic (or even listen to it!) to give permission - someone might want to record your fic for someone else.
For podficcers looking for creators with blanket permissions statements (meaning you don't have to contact them to ask before podficcing their works), try checking:
- https://www.fpslist.org/ - this tool lets you filter by fandom (including some tiny fandoms relevant to our interests!) to find creators who have permission statements
- specific authors' profile pages on Dreamwidth or AO3.
For people who requested podfic in their sign-up (or even if you didn't):
- if you want to add guidance about a podfic request in your already-posted wishlist (for example, whether you meant podfic of your own work or someone else's), leave the additional text in a comment on the Ask a Mod post, and we'll edit it in. Comments on the Ask a Mod post are screened so only mods can see them.
- if you're happy for people to make podfic of your existing fanworks, as gifts for you or for others, and you don’t already have a blanket permission in your AO3 profile, please comment below with a permission statement, either generally or specifically for
guardian_wishlist 2022.
