Guardian Wishlist 2022 - Rules/FAQ

guardian_wishlist is a Dreamwidth-based gifting fest along the lines of fandomtrees, fandomgiftbox, etc., but specifically for Guardian (novel, drama, and RPF) and other canons starring the main Guardian actors, with gifts revealed for the Reunion Festival (Mid-Autumn Festival) on 10 September.

How it works

1. Participants complete the sign-up template with a list of requests and prompts, as well as any DNWs. Sign-ups without Dreamwidth accounts must supply an email address, either in their sign-up or in a screened comment on the Ask a Mod post.
2. Mods post each person's requests in a separate post on guardian_wishlist. Comments are screened.
3. Anyone can write or make gifts for any sign-up, right up to reveals. There are no assignments, and you don't have to be signed up to participate in gift-giving. You don't need a Dreamwidth or AO3 account.
4. At reveals, mods unscreen comments and reveal the collection.

Rules

Who can sign up?
Anyone can sign up. If you don't have a Dreamwidth account, you must include a current email address in your sign-up or in a screened comment on the Ask a Mod post so we can contact you if necessary, e.g. with queries about your DNWs, and to let you know when gifts are revealed.

You don't need to have an AO3 account, or have your AO3 account set to accept gifts. Please be aware we can’t control who will make gifts for you.

What you can request

• Canons: Wishlist covers Guardian (novel, drama, and RPF) and other canons starring the main Guardian actors (dramas, movies, commercials, etc.), including various Bai Yu/Zhu Yilong character combinations.
  
  If your fandoms are commercials, photo shoots, etc., please include a link to them, if possible.

• Media: Requests can include any media, including transformative works like fic, art, icons, vids, podfic, and also picspams and meta, translation advice, related music links, anything that can be posted or linked in a comment. If you aren't requesting fic, please ask for a range of media, not (for example) only vids or only podfic.
  
  Some more examples of things you could request: ideas on what "steampunk" could look like in the Guardian universe, screencaps of that one ad, an icon of Bai Yu smiling, crossover fanvid recs, an ode to Da Qing, a list of place(s) where an English speaker can buy merch, songs that makes you think of Zhu Hong, rec(s) for fanwork(s) that made you smile, any Detective L inspired recipe, favourite side-characters, feedback about X fanwork ... Are there assignments?
No assignments! Anyone can make gifts! We hope participants will join in the fun and make gifts for other wishlists, but you are not required to.

Requirements for gifts
Gifts must fit the requests and not include any DNWs. Prompts are optional. There are no minimums for gifts. Gifts must be unique to the recipient.

How to post a gift
All gifts must be hidden from public view until reveals, either by posting directly in a comment on that person's wishlist, or by posting to the AO3 collection or a Google document accessible only with a direct link, or something similar.

(If the collection doesn't show in the dropdown on AO3, go directly to the collection page and click the "Post to Collection" button from there, or alternatively paste in the collection name - Guardian_Wishlist_2022 - exactly as given here.)

Regardless of where you post, please comment on the wishlist with a link to the gift. Gift comments can be anonymous or signed in. Comments are screened until reveals.

If you've created a gift for someone whose AO3 account is set to not allow gifts, you can post the gift to the collection without a recipient.

If your gift does not meet AO3's terms of service (for example, picspam, non-transformative meta or resource) and is too big to fit in a comment, you can post to Googledocs, set the security to "anyone with the link", and link to the work in the wishlist comments. Other hosting (Tumblr, etc.) is also fine.

Gifting continues right up until reveals on 10 September.

Required warnings
For gifts containing graphic sexual content, graphic violence, rape/non-con, underage sexual content, or major character death, please either post to AO3 and link, or include content warnings in the subject line of your comment.

Upon reveals
After reveals, please thank everyone who generously made you gifts! And bookmark or track your wishlist post, in case there are late gifts. Participants who don’t thank their creators may not sign up again next year.

Everyone gets a gift
Every wishlist will get at least one gift.

Abusive or inappropriate gifts
If we notice abusive or inappropriate gifts, we'll delete them, but mods will not be checking gifts in detail, so please a) check DNWs before you post and b) play nice.

Upon reveals, if any of the gifts your receive seem abusive, contain a DNW or are otherwise inappropriate, let us know immediately. You are not expected to comment on gifts that are abusive or against the rules.
