Hi! Wishlist is my absolute favourite fandom event of the year! I hope you have a great time, and that you find something inspiring either here or on some of the other wishlists. <3

Medium Likes: fic, art, podfic (of my fic or others’)
Medium DNWs: Promo/behind-the-scenes pics or anything actor-y/fourth-wall-breaking, including mention of the actors' names or other roles. Written gifts longer than about 5k. Fic that remixes my fic (but art or podfic of my fic would be amazing). Gifsets.

General Likes:

• Unironic unabashed love of canon. Fanworks that explore, illuminate and play off canon. Canon settings. Canon divergence.
• Themes of loneliness and belonging. Stoic angst. Characters being brave and kind to each other, and learning to be kind to themselves.
• Team as family (but not bosses as parents).
• Secret identities (reveal optional). Navigating roles, identities, dynamics (eg, characters relating to their partners differently in different contexts).
• Scruffiness and unapologetic domestic disasteriness paired with competence in other areas.
• Oblique/subtexty interactions and conversations, especially with UST.
• Happy endings, bittersweetness, open or sad endings. (By all means, make me cry. :-)
• Canon-compliant post-canon works, either with or without bringing Weilan back. Also, canon divergences and handwavy fixits.
• Earned sacrifice, when all else has failed.
• Humour. Crack-taken-seriously. Heists. People being in cahoots.
• Outsider POV: canon characters or OCs.
• Interspecies, cross-cultural and cross-class relationships and friendships. Inter-cultural politics.
• Intimacy being hard. Good people who like each other but have trouble admitting it. Trust and trust issues.
• Attraction to character traits and mutual dynamics, as well as physical traits. Kissing. Playfulness. Liking each other. Flirting/UST, get-togethers, established relationships.
• Poly ships (triangles or metamours-as-family; not open relationships).
• Non-standard domestic arrangements, eg, they don't officially live together, "couple + friend" (or “couple/throuple + Cat”) families, etc.
• Low-stakes scenarios. Portraits and soft little vignettes.
• Smut, tenderness, teasing, lollipops. Light/spontaneous tying up or holding down (especially when it reveals/explores feelings). Awareness of and care around power imbalances. Inappropriate use of Zhao Yunlan’s shoulder holster. Pushing/holding/leaning against walls or furniture. Tearing/pulling at clothes. Fingers. Spontaneously using (safe) objects or dark-energy toys/appendages/powers. Characters kinking on things about their partners, rather than "having kinks" in the abstract.
• That said, Zhao Yunlan’s oral fixation. :D

General DNWs:

• Emphasis on physical hurt/comfort tropes (torture, gore, sickfic, wound care, etc). Good guys being cruel.
• Dubcon, noncon, non-consensual mindwipes. Unacknowledged power imbalances.
• Pain play, serious power play (a bit of light bossiness or manhandling is fine), anything with official toys (like those found in a sex-toy catalogue). Age-play, daddy kink, spanking. Omegaverse or any of its component sex tropes (mpreg, going into heat, etc).
• Infidelity, jealousy (passing feelings are okay, but not as a major focus). Insecurity in established relationships.
• Kidfic, pregnancy, weddings, proposals.
• Framing of work relationships as parent/child.
• Incest.
• Different-setting AUs including reincarnation. No-powers AUs or outcomes.
• Shit-takes mocking canon or the characters. Doylist takes (eg, allusions to actors, budget constraints, wigs, etc).

Fandom: Guardian (drama)

• Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan ± & Da Qing – all the flavours, contemporary, YOHE, post-canon
• Guo Changcheng &/ Chu Shuzhi &/ Ye Huo
• Chu Shuzhi & Shen Wei
• post-canon AU Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan/& Chu Shuzhi & Da Qing family unit (feel free to jump into established relationship)
• Any platonic combination of: Zhao Yunlan, Shen Wei, Da Qing, Chu Shuzhi, Guo Changcheng, Zhu Hong, Lin Jing, Wang Zheng, Sang Zan, Fu You, Cheng Xinyan, Da Ji, the Dixing bartender, and any other "good guy" or redeemed character. Zhao Xinci, Zhang Shi, Shen Xi.
• Any other characters or pairings in my prompts, or other similar characters.
• Worldbuilding. I'd love to see more of the inhabitants of Dixing, including OCs.
• Fix-its or vignettes for minor characters like Ji Xiaobai (Mirror Girl's fiancé), Da Ji, Dr Feng (Miracle Doctor), etc. Not sanitising them, but approaching with compassion and finding the complicated goodness in people.
• My prompts from previous years still apply! If, like me, your plans in past years have exceeded your creating capacity, and you were hoping particular prompts might come up again, I’d be thrilled if you managed something this year for one of my earlier prompts, especially for my Extremely Niche Pairings™. (My previous wishlists: 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021.) <3

Guardian drama-specific likes
My general and fandom-specific likes are the same, and anything inspired by them would be amazing! <3

My current favourite characters in descending order are: Zhao Yunlan, Shen Wei, Chu Shuzhi, Da Qing (platonic relationships only), Guo Changcheng, Zhao Xinci. (Oops, there are no women here. Please feel free to write/draw/record me some femslash of your choice!)

Drama-specific DNWs: Passive, very innocent or clueless Shen Wei. Shen Wei retiring from either Envoying or academia. Novel canon or characterisation (incl. Zhao Yunlan saying "baby" or "wife" or other endearments). Da Qing in a romantic/sexual relationship. Ditto Ye Zun. Zhao Yunlan/Zhu Hong. Anything that draws attention to the artifice of the production (eg, referring to Zhu Jiu's hair as a wig or wiglike, mention of the actors).

• Art or fic: Weilan! Any canon scene or variantion, with
  • Professor Shen instead of Hei Pao Shi, or vice versa, and/or
  • Zhao Yunlan swapped out for Kunlun (ie, YOHE-era clothes), and/or
  • a contemporary-era scene re-envisaged/transplanted to YOHE, eg, the nose-wiping scene, rescuing someone (instead of Li Qian) from falling off a cliff, etc, and/or
  • bonus kissing/making out/more!
  Completely up to you how much explanation or set-up is provided. :D


• Art or fic: ChuGuo! All the adorable idiots-in-love get-togethers! (I’m not too worried about power imbalance with these two, but I still prefer late-canon or post-canon, where Changcheng has had time to find his feet and level up.)


• Art or fic: if I have a little black dress in this fandom, it’s Chu Shuzhi. If you want to branch out, please pair him with any good (or at least non-villainous) character, and I’ll love it – Guo Changcheng, of course, and/or Ye Huo, but anyone else works, too -- including pre-canon Zhao Yunlan if you can get him past his anti-Dixingren bias for the occasion. (Shen Wei is a harder sell because of the power differential AND because he’s busy waiting for Kunlun, but if you can canon diverge your way around those things…) Chu Shuzhi/Lin Jing? I’m very willing to be entertained by that! Chu Shuzhi/Ya Qing? Sure! Chu Shuzhi/Zhao Xinci? Please!


• Art or fic: The Hallows bring Chu Nianzhi back! Without his memories! And for some reason he's in Haixing, bumbling around looking exactly like Chu Shuzhi! Shenanigans ensue!


• Despite Zhao Xinci’s best efforts, Hei Pao Shi learns of Zhang Shi’s presence. And/or despite Shen Wei’s best efforts, Zhao Xinci becomes aware Professor Shen is Hei Pao Shi.


• Post-canon, Wang Zheng and Sang Zan return, but they're trapped in Ye Zun's body (in a kind of Zhang Shi in Zhao Xinci way), until Lin Jing invents a way to get them out.


• In a post-canon fixit 'verse, Zhao Xinci’s POV of his and Zhao Yunlan’s first reunion. Zhao Xinci knows about Zhang Shi’s promise to take over Zhao Yunlan's body if things ended badly. (I assume Zhao Xinci is furious with both of them!)


• Art: Pre-canon Zhao Yunlan, sprawling and smoking.


• Art or fic: Chu Shuzhi & Shen Wei - pre-canon casefic in Dixing. Working together, mutual respect, Chu Shuzhi sees a new side of the Envoy.


• Art or fic: The Hallows follow Zhao Yunlan home and hide in his disaster!flat. (Da Qing finds one, and his fur stands on end!)


• Art: Zhao Yunlan’s doodles of other characters. We’ve seen his Professor Shen and Hei Pao Shi ones, but what's his Da Qing like? His Wang Zheng?


• Art or fic: Chu Shuzhi learns a musical instrument.


• Art or fic: Ye Huo taking off his mask to kiss Chu Shuzhi or Guo Changcheng.


• Other delightful things: Envoy reveals for people other than Zhao Yunlan; ordinary Dixingren's takes on the Envoy, legends, rumours, songs; Hallows-instigated shenanigans (such convenient plot devices); the timeloop, and the way Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan are each other's formative influences; exploration of the immigrant/refugee/outsider aspects of ordinary Dixingren in Haixing; Yashou culture and politics; hopeful/progressive political developments in Haixing and/or Dixing; taking canon events and extrapolating wider effects and implications.

Podfic: I always love hearing how people perform/interpret my work, so if any of my fics appeal to you (particularly anything from my author's favs collection), I'd really enjoy that. (If you want to edit or adapt the text (eg, taking out speech tags or whatever), feel free.) Alternatively, any other person's fic that fits my requests. :D

Fandom: Guardian (novel)
Shen San/Wei, Shen San/Wei & Daqing (or any other SID members)

Shen San and Wei spend a few more years together, either through handwavy means or by figuring out the blood-drinking (but keep the blood stuff off-screen, please, and no force-feeding Shen San “medicine” ;-p)
Shen San finds Wei’s pendant, subconsciously ‘recognises’ it, and starts to investigate/question their connection
Amnesiac or not, Daqing (or other SID characters) show up at the little house in the mountains. (I don’t care if the timeline doesn’t make sense, but I’d prefer funtimes over violent Sangzan stuff.) Or a previous incarnation of Guo Changcheng/the wick stumbles in out of a storm, and Shen San and Wei basically adopt him(/her/them).
The Great Seal starts to weaken, or Ghost Face shows up early, or Shen San rescues and befriends a high-level Youchu and brings him/her/them home. # Youchu rights activism

Novel-specific DNW: Daqing in a romantic/sexual relationship.
