They understand duty, and they understand each other in that: they will both put their duty to protect the world, the innocent first, even when it kills them. But they're still super protective of each other, scolding each other for being reckless with their own safety (tbf, Shen Wei has a lot more reason to scold ZYL than vice versa, but ZYL gets his own jabs in e.g. the "you're not a weapon" line). They push and cross polite boundaries with each other, but it's okay because their stalking is mutual, it's their love language. The time loop just puts a cherry on top of all this delicious Weilan cake - they each are in love with the other when they first meet, they know them intimately, and it shows in their interactions. And because they're both clever, they notice that discrepancy and are intrigued.

Especially Zhu Hong's interactions with Lin Jing, Chu Shuzhi, and Wang Zheng fascinate me - what did they usually do, pre-canon? Do they hang out together when we don't see them on screen? Clearly, they like to tease and prank each other. Generally, I enjoy team as family and team-bonding, casefic, characters being competent, the team working together, the team being protective of each other, team members having a conflict and growing to understand each other better through adversity

What's their perspective on Zhao Yunlan's courtship of Professor Shen? The Heipaoshi reveal? Working as a team and having each other's back, possibly when the regent shows back up to pester Chu Shuzhi or another inspector pokes their nose in? Working with Professor Shen in an official capacity as consultant without Zhao Yunlan hovering?</details>
<details><summary>Weilan &/ Chu Shuzhi</summary>I am always, always a sucker for fealty, and Chu Shuzhi's unquestioning loyalty to Heipaoshi ticks all my boxes. I enjoy that Chu Shuzhi is clever in his own right, that he works towards what he thinks Shen Wei's goals are, that he won't hesitate if Shen Wei has a task for him - but that he clearly has strong opinions of his own he may or may not bring up. The tension of finding a worthy lord to serve and his own unworthiness is amazing. Similarly, his respect and disgust for Zhao Yunlan amuse me, because he *does* follow Chief Zhao's lead and respects his professional skills, he just disagrees *vehemently* with his approach and lifestyle and general disasterness.

I would love anything where Shen Wei is injured and forced to rely on Chu Shuzhi, or Zhao Yunlan and Chu Shuzhi are stuck together for ~reasons pre-HPS reveal. (Or maybe where Zhao Yunlan knows/suspects but before Chu Shuzhi has his confirmation.) Or something where Chu Shuzhi thinks he's stuck between loyalties, maybe he even agrees with the task Zhao Yunlan gives him, but perceives it as working against Heipaoshi's goals and thus feels unable to do them? Something related to Professor Shen's undeniable Dixingren status and hiding it maybe? Ideally with Chu Shuzhi coming to the realization that his lord and his boss are on the same page, actually.

For a smutty scenario, I’m very interested in Chu Shuzhi helping Shen Wei to dominate sub!Zhao Yunlan, using his dark energy strings for sexual bondage. I enjoy the idea of CSZ being a switch and kinking on his hero learning and using his power to bind ZYL, helping Shen Wei tie ZYL up with strings, following Shen Wei's orders and without hesitation but at the same time domming ZYL sort of second-in-command dom style? Like he doesn't wait for Shen Wei's orders to punish ZYL when he pushes boundaries or to reprimand him, perhaps he even prepares and offers a tied up ZYL to Shen Wei as a gift from his loyal servant? </details>
<details><summary>Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan/Zhu Hong</summary>I very much liked how canon handled Zhu Hong's one-sided crush on Zhao Yunlan. He was gentle and self-effacing, trying to buffer her feelings, especially her self-worth, despite the inevitable rejection. He clearly knew about her crush, but also tried to put her off, a hint she noticed but couldn't quite kill her hope that maybe some day they could be together. I find the personality switch episode especially enlightening re: Zhu Hong's character here because she starts chasing Zhao Yunlan actively, using cutesy names and acting like a cutesy female lead stereotype. It shows that Zhu Hong usually /isn't/ that. Despite her crush she's feisty, proud and hides her feelings.

Her rivalry yet understanding with Shen Wei is imo under explored, their conversation about love in the park, while primarily serving to highlight both their romantic feelings towards Zhao Yunlan, drew interesting parallels between their characters. In a lot of ways Shen Wei is the sort of gentleman Zhu Hong is supposed to fall in love with, but at his core he is similar to Zhao Yunlan, especially re: justice and duty and responsibility, once the outer layers of bad boy vs polite professor genteel are peeled away. And vice versa, I think Shen Wei would find several of Zhao Yunlan's more brash and reckless traits reflected in Zhu Hong.

Ideally, I would want this ship to develop with established Weilan and Zhu Hong hopelessly pining from the outside, until circumstances force them to re-evaluate. Whether Zhu Hong has to marry either Shen Wei or Zhao Yunlan for political reasons and thus destroy their HEA, or one (or both!) of them need to have sex with her due to extenuating circumstances, I would love for Zhu Hong to go through some homewrecker angst and feeling like an intruder in the relationship (until they grow to a point where she becomes a proper part of the threeway relationship).

For a fluffier take, I would also love the fake dating/married trope undercover during a case, where for some reason or another one of Weilan can't participate in the trickery (whether the target knows them or they have a different part to play...) Bonus points for an outsider to catch Weilan making out at some point and assuming they're cheating on poor Zhu Hong 👌 ideally the fake dating would lead to a realization that there's relationship potential between the three of them, with a promise to explore that in the future.</details>

Could be set in YOHE, during Dixing's invasion or in a post-canon scenario!</li><li>Pre-identity reveal (or pre-episode 20 where ZYL knows but SID doesn't), Shen Wei gets injured and has to rely on CSZ and/or CSZ and ZYL get stuck and have to work together to free themselves</li><li>CSZ getting confirmation Shen Wei is a Dixingren pre-HPS-reveal and feeling very conflicted about it</li><li>Zhu Hong dealing with her unrequited crush by focussing on work, training to kick ass (and totally not to impress Zhao Yunlan), bonding with other SID members as she bullies them into chasing some lead or another</li><li>Zhu Hong being forced to crash the Weilan relationship by outside forces (e.g. sex pollen via Yashou concoction or Dixingren power, some sort of curse, a Treaty subclause) aimed at either Shen Wei or ZYL, through much angst and Zhu Hong internally struggling with knowing she's the intruder and not a beloved partner, finding some triad arrangement which eventually turns into genuine three-way love</li><li>Casefic in which the SID comes together to protect one of their own (e.g. keeping an injured Professor Shen from being handed over to Haixing Labs, hiding CSZ from the Regent, standing up for Zhao Yunlan to another Haixing inspector a la episode 16/17, etc.) Would love if Lin Jing's and Chu Shuzhi's potential conflict in loyalties is adressed :D!</li></ul>

Prompts:<details><summary>Duan Tianying/Luo Fusheng</summary>I enjoy Luo Fusheng and Duan Tianying’s developing relationship, how they grow from the early misunderstandings and mistakes into each other’s greatest support. Having to work through the early mistakes and assumptions they made leads to a sturdier basis for their subsequent romantic relationship, imo. Tianying starts with understandable misgivings about Luo Fusheng and his job as a mafia enforcer, she takes him at the mask he presents to the world and has to learn how to peel those layers back. Luo Fusheng, meanwhile, is someone who will put everyone he cares about before himself, he will give everything he has and more to make the people in his life happy, but hides this behind a cavalier mask. Tianying is good for him, imo, because she sees beyond his pretense and can take care of the injured soul behind the mask, and Luo Fusheng can support her loyally and unequivocally without ever worrying about her letting him fall (unlike everyone else in his life :/) I love that her voice can bring him enough peace to fall asleep without nightmares, and that he's always willing to protect her.

And let's not kid ourselves, Luo Fusheng is a service sub and Duan Tianying would rise perfectly to the occasion of being his kind mistress.</details><details><summary>Duan Tianying & Hong Lan</summary>I like the rivalry between Hong Lan and Tianying. I would love for them to develop a friendship from there, or at least an appreciation and understanding. I like how condescending Hong Lan is, how much she abuses her power over Tianying, especially when she’s later forced to acknowledge Tianying after the Lin Ruomeng reveal as an equal. I would love something that focusses on Hong Lan’s character growth in this area, growing out of her selfish love for LFS and recognizing that LFS deserves happiness, even if it isn’t with her.
Similarly, I would love any fic that focusses on Hong Lan growing into and taking responsibility as the head of the Hong family after her father’s death, and how that affects her relationship to Tianying/Luo Fusheng. E.g. taking LFS back in as second-in-command and giving her blessing for him to marry Lin Ruomeng – what would lead her to something like that?</details>
<ul><li>I love how Luo Fusheng/Tianying's relationship is one of mutual care and respect and protectiveness, especially in contrast to their relationship with other characters (especially for LFS, who is always there for everyone else in his life, but none of them are there for him, especially Lin Qikai and Xu Xingcheng)</li><li>How do Luo Fusheng and Tianying square their respective morals with LFS's job as top enforcer of the Hong family? Tianying scolds him several times in canon, but I would love to see how she can keep her morality and yet learn to accept why LFS is loyal to his mob family, how he does his best to keep his people safe and protect the weak. Possibly with Tianying realizing that the world is more than black and white along the way.</li><li>Canon au with a stronger mob family focus where Tianying learns to live with her enforcer husband (and LFS doesn’t get perma-banned :( he deserves better!) </li><li>Hong Lan recognizing everything Luo Fusheng has sacrificed for her and realizing that she can’t force him to love her, but that loving him should also mean trying to work for his happiness regardless. A character arc to being less selfish (even if she contrarily defines this as selfishness to protect herself from hurt feelings).</li><li>Hong Lan growing into her Head of the Hong family responsibilities</li><li>Tianying kicking martial ass/Battle Couple with Luo Fusheng. Maybe some rival mafia decided Luo Fusheng's girlfriend would be an easy hostage to force his hand, but she ends up rescuing herself/LFS only shows up as she's already kicking ass.</li></ul>

Gui Mian | Ghost Face being called Ye Zun. - in the novel, they have a very different relationship than in the drama.

Prompts/ideas:
- Shen Wei has to get used to being a god and having soul-fires now. (While getting used to his parents-in-law.)
- Gui Mian managed to get yoinked out of chaos as well, or crawls back from it after a time. And now he also has to deal with having soul-fires, and his three corpses/worms having diminished.
- Does Zhao Yunlan | Kunlun still try and fail to cook dumplings with his mom?
- Mama Zhao and Papa Zhao have questions about what is going on with things. Up to you what those things are, but where the answer is likely related to Zhao Yunlan's Kunlun-ing it up - including anything from: "the plants outside my office all started blooming and growing all at once! Isn't your bureau supposed to deal with out of the ordinary stuff like that?" reason: Zhao Yunlan has a cold and it's making his powers go a little haywire. To: "we keep getting the prettiest potted plants and other weirder gifts from somebody. Who keeps giving them to us?" answer: the shifters, Difu, etc all trying to get in good with Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei.
- Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei decide to get married. What does that look like and how does that work? Aka who acts as Shen Wei's relatives? What goes on with all the Shifters and Difu and everyone trying to get an invite? Who runs interference/how do they keep Mama and Papa Zhao from finding out who their son and his fiance are, given all the politics of Kunlun-jun and Zhan Hun Shi getting married?
- Shen Wei's memory removal backfired a bit.
- Papa Zhao does remember more than he lets on. (Or, fic where he taught Zhao Yunlan how to use technology to catch someone, ofc he's been monitoring himself for years)
- Mama Zhao knows more than she's letting on. 
- Zhu Hong is potentially a Nuwa reincarnation.
- Gui Mian had a kid. Now that the Great Seal is unlocked, that kid comes to find his uncle. There is an adjustment period to even being not behind the Seal anymore.
- A prior Kunlun incarnation and Zhan Hun Shi interact: we find out at one point that Shen Wei gave him the watch in Republican era China. What was that like? Or any others where Zhan Hun Shi was known to that Kunlun reincarnation.

Fandom: Daomu Biji Chongqi/Reboot drama and novel(and Sha Hai as its portrayed in Daomu Biji Chongqi)
Characters: Wu Xie, Xiaoge, Pangzi, Hei Xiazi, Xie Yuchen, etc. characters specifically from Chongqi too.

DNW: Liu Sang to be in a relationship with Xiaoge and/or Wu Xie.

Prompts/ideas:
1. So we get the neck scar in the intro to Chongqi! But that is from novel Sha Hai (the drama didn't include that scene) and the novel infamously ends right after that so we don't find out how Wu Xie survived that or anything! Do you have any theories? 
1a. Bonus heart-eyes, if it involves something related to what the Jiumen did to themselves as shown in the Chongqi novel. 
1b. Even more bonus heart-eyes if it makes the Wangjiaren that Wu Xie goes up against in Chongqi back away from him for that reason, on top of the canon reason of he handed their organization's asses to them and scattered them to the wind.
2. Speaking of Wangjiaren, how does our beloved Wu Xie - supposedly Tian Zhen once more - react to the Wangjiaren now that Xiaoge's back? Both given his guilt over very much not having been Tian Zhen for Ten Years there and with what the Wangjiaren wanted to do to Zhang Qiling and the Bronze Gate before. We see a few glimpses of his fear at the Wangjiaren having been hired by what's-his-face, but is he also worried about them potentially revealing to Xiaoge and Pangzi how not-No Evil he was? 
3. Speaking of what the Jiumen did to themselves as shown in the novel, potential crossover/fusion with Guardian novelverse! Did the Jiumen find a way to become part Ghost Tribe - and pass that down to Wu Xie? (So that if Shen Wei or Zhao Yunlan see him, there will be a moment of "Why do you look like Gui Mian???" - also, it would certainly explain the doubt that Wu Sanshu actually died if Wu Sanshu was partially ghost tribe ghost)
4. Any other potential fusion/crossover with Guardian novelverse, including potentially Bronze Gate = Houtu's Great Seal or Gutongjing = another entrance to the Profane Lands (another reason Wu Xie might have become part ghost tribe ghost if he went there repeatedly and uhh snake venom worked on him) or Qinling Sacred Tree = Tree of Virtue outside Profane Lands (yet another reason Wu Xie might have become part ghost tribe ghost and might look like Shen Wei and Gui Mian)

for vids in particular: I love vids that really showcase a character or relationship or something else about canon! But in addition to my usual likes, I also have a huge fondness for constructed reality vids that build something completely different with the same footage.

for meta in particular: I love anything that looks at canon details and their implications, or how various elements fit together, pointing out small overlooked elements, or possible points where things might have gone differently. Also anything involving cultural context/background, or translation-related things!

Generally: I love the Haixing vs. Dixing conflict, the cases of the week, the found family of the SID team, the worldbuilding (aliens, yes!), the themes around bigotry and prejudice and immigration, secrets and secrets and lies, trust and loyalty, misdirected blame/vengeance, self-sacrifice, etc. Anything that plays with any of these would be awesome!

Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan: I love how intense and weird these two are about each other, Shen Wei being BAMF, Zhao Yunlan being clever, both of them being competent and smart. Their time loop relationship and the way they both help shape the person they already met. Their mutual protectiveness.

Ya Qing, Ya Qing/Zhu Hong: I love Ya Qing in all her proud, prickly, well-intentioned-but-wrongheaded glory. I'd love more about her and what drives her, what fuelled her bad decisions, her last-minute realisation that led to her changing sides, and its aftermath. And I'd love to see more of how her story converges with Zhu Hong's as Zhu Hong comes into her own as Yashou High Chief.

I'd love anything about them being weird and intense at and about each other. (My theory is that these two are exes who had a bad break-up!)

- Zhao Yunlan’s Guardian position/powers involve being literally connected to Dragon City (city witch, land magic, or anything else playing with this concept that you’d like!)
- Dragon City is named Dragon City because there was literally a dragon in this area at one point. Maybe one of its children’s skulls is the skull in the secret lab? Maybe Ye Zun’s big scheme wakes it up? Maybe something else? I just think there being a dragon (and other high fantasy nonsense, if you’d like!) would be super fun.

Chu Shuzhi/Ye Huo
My favorite rarepair! I mostly am interested in them post-canon, because the way they're positioned to help rebuild after everything went down is super interesting. I think that they've got a lot of similarities in how they can approach the world (protective, combative, honestly quite sweet under the gruff/macho exterior) and I think that they both have an incredible amount of potential as mentors for young/disadvantaged people. I think they'd be really interesting to see as roommates going about their lives and supporting each other.

Chu Shuzhi /& Shen Wei
In many ways I'm more interested in the Envoy side of this than the Shen Wei side, because I'm just so very here for loyalty kink. Pre-canon stories about what Chu Shuzhi's relationship with the Envoy was (how/why the Envoy found him to so dramatically rescue him from prison, how/why CSZ was the one sent to the SID, what meetings between them were like, etc.) would be absolutely fantastic to me! I'd also love something about CSZ's feelings about the reveal. How does he take it? How does it change things? How doesn't it change things? (Also, I'm deeply fond of the idea of CSZ doing bondage things with his strings. I'm interested by that in both a non-sexual kink way and here for it if you want to go a more sexual route.)

Ya Qing/Zhu Hong
Mostly post-canon, once Zhu Hong is the Yashou leader! :D Ya Qing's begrudging respect for Zhu Hong is very fun, and I think they'd clash and work together in really interesting ways. It's enemies to allies to friends to lovers, pretty much, and if you wanted to move lovers elsewhere that's cool too. :)

Special Investigation Division | SID Ensemble
I adore the whole group together! This is my casefic and shenanigans request, where I honestly just want anything that focuses on the team as a whole and the family atmosphere they have. Pre-canon cases, unseen during-canon cases, post-canon cases—anything you'd like! Or stories about them integrating together; movie nights, food eaten together at 1am because that's when the case finished, dares and bets and in-jokes they have. Show me the team working together to clean up the SID and finding souvenirs of old cases! Maybe a Rashomon story, where they all tell their own takes on one case/event? That'd be incredibly fun.

Ye Huo
Literally anything about him! How did he end up in Haixing? What resulted in his scar? Why does he wear that mask? Why did he end up in an underground fighting ring, of all places? What does he do post-canon?

- I love how smart he is, and how patient he is, and how good he is at seeming like a normal charming member of society.
- What are his plans? What is he doing? Why is he doing any of this? We get basically no answers about this in canon, beyond him also investigating Captain, but I’d love your theories!
- Especially the prison stuff! How did he come to this conclusion? What was it like for him in prison? How did he accomplish his goals in prison? Did he have any escape plans? Did he have any communication outside of the prison? Just, there's a lot left unexplored there, and I'm fascinated about all of it.
- How did he set up the explosives on the bridge? Did he get someone else to do it? How pre-planned was that whole thing, and what did he expect to happen?
- What’s he doing post-canon?

Huo Wensi + Luo Fei
(romantic, platonic, whatever—so long as they’re having emotions about each other, I’m here for it!)
- I have yet to figure out how to articulate my feelings about the tangle of obsession that binds these two together. Love and frustration and desire and respect all blended up; they can't let go of each other but that doesn't mean they necessarily like each other.
- I fully believe that they had a pre-canon relationship and an extremely messy break-up. I do not know anything beyond that. Please tell me anything you'd like about this.
- How did they meet for the first time? Was it on a case, or something else?
- How many cases did they solve together before things broke bad?
- They both have a Captain obsession, in their own ways; did they enable each other in this?
- I love how smart they both are, and how well they know each other.
- I would like them to tear each other apart (verbally, physically) but not be able to meaningfully harm each other because they need each other too much (to solve a case, for personal reasons)
- Post-canon cat-and-mouse as they chase each other around the city
- Post-canon team-up for any reason where they're exceptionally petty about it (bonus points if this team-up is accomplished by Huo Wensi letting Luo Fei catch him so that they can have a Conversation)

- We don't see much of how Qin Xiaoman and Benjamin really become friends, and I'd especially love to see more of that. Quiet times in the morgue, mutual worrying over Luo Fei, other shared hobbies...?
- I'd have a lot of fun reading about any of them being forced to Take A Break for a while. Have a vacation. Something like that. (It probably wouldn't work, but I enjoy that kind of interaction!)

Fandom: Detective L/DMBJ Crossover
(probably mostly 老九门 | Old Nine Gates, due to that being the one set in the same time period as Detective L, but feel free to draw inspiration from any of the shows/lore)

I’d love to see something where Huo Wensi is a member of the Huo family of the Mystic Nine. How does that affect his business? Is that why he’s scheming the way he is? Does he get pulled into Mystic Nine politics and/or tomb nonsense?

Or something where Luo Fei gets called in to work a case that turns out to be about a Tomb Nonsense Item being stolen! I think it’d be interesting seeing Luo Fei deal with the minor supernatural shenanigans that show up all throughout DMBJ; he, like most Holmesian characters, works best when he understands the rules and limitations of the world that supernatural stuff sets aside.

Tomb bugs (and snakes) in all their forms are fantastic, I love ridiculous traps and rooms with unnecessary amounts of chains, the monstrous flora and fauna of tombs make me very happy, and I am just generally excited about the way the tombs blend history and mythology and local legend together.

When I’m writing prompts with multiple characters, I’m generally open to any relationship interpretation that makes sense: &, /, rivals, etc. There are a few exceptions where I’ll ask for a specific kind of relationship by marking it in the section title, but otherwise I just want fic engaging with both of them, or their thoughts about each other, or otherwise focusing on the interplay between them. The specific type of relationship is immaterial, because these people rarely have simple emotions anyway.

Lin Nansheng + Chen Moqun
Ship them, mentorship them, write them as antagonists and foils… They spend the whole show circling each other, and I love every bit of it. Master/puppy, intense devotion, the inability to ever actually shoot each other no matter how many times they point guns at each other’s faces… I don’t know that I have a coherent prompt for these two. I just want MORE, you know?

Lin Nansheng & Lan Xinjie
I love their platonic/intense-and-complicated-friendship relationship! Among other things, Lan Xinjie deserved better. I’d love something about their life together, after they end up married for convenience. He teaches her to shoot. They play roles. They mostly leave each other alone, though, I get the impression. What’s that all like? What would it be like if they had a happier ending, where her son didn’t die but they ended up marrying to keep society from being shitty to them regardless?

Lin Nansheng & Gu Shenyan
The complicated vibes of mentorship, suspicion, and comradeship! Everything they do is fascinating. I enjoy their relationship! I don’t have specific prompts; I just like how they interact and how intensely loyal Lin Nansheng becomes to Gu Shenyan by the end.

Ji Zhongyuan + Gu Shenyan
I ship these two old spy men (though I’m also happy to see them as friends) and I want everything about their history and relationship through the years. They’re both also much more dangerous than they pretend to be, and intensely intelligent and secretive.

Gu Shenyan + Chen Moqun
My favorite parts of their relationship are the complicated early bits where Chen Moqun is like “I must be suspicious of him but he’s been my friend for so long!” and Gu Shenyan sneaks around being genial and framing other people for work he absolutely did do. I also like the way the show plays with loyalty to the country, since they’re both absolutely people who say they want the best for China but show it in different ways and prize different secondary elements. Chen Moqun will always choose survival. Gu Shenyan, offered a chance to survive, dies to give his cause a better chance.

Wang Shi’an + Chen Moqun
I love their relationship and how it’s always about power and who has control. They both want to be in control, and the periods of time when they’re struggling over it (and blackmailing each other) are absolutely fascinating. This is another one where I’m like “IDK, more?” because I think them attempting to gain the upper hand and using each other as tools is really fun to watch.

Chen Moqun
The slow breakdown of Chen Moqun through the show is glorious to see. I’d especially love more about his time with the Japanese, because he absolutely hated working for them but wanted to live too much to let himself die for his country. Something about his inner turmoil there would be great. (Is this solo request essentially: MAKE HIM SUFFER? maybe. a little bit. He can be in better positions during the requests that involve other people too…)

I have a special fondness for Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan fanworks set in the first half of the show (identity porn, ZYL's suspicion and flirting, their cat-and-mouse games, no one has any boundaries!), whereas I prefer Chu Shuzhi/Guo Changcheng fanworks set a bit later, once Changcheng has found his feet (I like the age and experience gaps to be balanced/mitigated somewhat). I love the present day setting, Ye Olde Haixing Era, and post-canon (canon-compliant, fix-its, or handwavy AUs, especially positive takes on post-canon Dixing). Envoy reveals for people other than Zhao Yunlan. Hallows-instigated shenanigans. Yashou being very their-animal.

Zhao Yunlan is my favourite! I adore his calculated casual/scruffy/faux bad boy aesthetic. (Please don't tidy him up, even temporarily!)

I'd also love something Chu Shuzhi-centric. I see him at the start of the show as remote and stoic (and self-denying and not very happy), feeling like he doesn’t really belong anywhere -- at the SID, in Haixing or in Dixing either. I’d love some kind of connection for him, be it Guo Changcheng, Zhao Yunlan, Zhu Hong, or someone (anyone) else.

<li>I could go for some “one-night-stand/rebound to platonic friends” fic, or “friends to fuckbuddies to friends” – and there are so many pairings this could work for: Zhu Hong/Lin Jing, Chu Shuzhi/Zhao Yunlan (if you can find a way for Zhao Yunlan not to be cheating on the possibility of him/Shen Wei), Zhu Hong/Chu Shuzhi, Zhu Hong/Da Ji, Lin Jing/Wang Zheng (pre-Hanga arc), Ye Huo/Chu Shuzhi. The possibilities are endless! (But not Zhao Yunlan/Zhu Hong or Da Qing/anyone, please.)</li>
<li>I’m not into typical hurt/comfort dynamics, but I think I’d really enjoy some platonic comfort, particularly if it was a romantic or friendship pairing comforting a third party. For example, Chu Shuzhi/Guo Changcheng cheering up Zhu Hong to help her get over her crush on Zhao Yunlan; Wang Zheng/Sang Zan adopting Lin Jing, giving him somewhere to belong; Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan (& Da Qing) having Li Qian or Lin Jing or Chu Shuzhi over for dinner after a gruelling case and it turning into (or promising to turn into) a regular thing.</li>
<li>Post-canon everyone-lives, Chu Shuzhi becomes a regular visitor at Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan's household, and essentially finds a place as part of their family in a platonic/non-sexual way. This might work well as a three- or five-times thing? Maybe it starts when Zhao Yunlan gets him to bring something over from the SID and he ends up hanging out for the evening, and then some combination of them take on a shared project (a garden, something mechanical, scientific experiments with Dixing powers, something else)? And Da Qing is there, too, of course. I'd love it if Zhao Yunlan respected the existing loyalty relationship between Shen Wei and Chu Shuzhi in an almost-metamours-y way (while still teasing them about it, probably :D), and they all gradually found their way to friendship and were just, like, family enjoying and supporting each other, with Chu Shuzhi ultimately confident of his place there. Very happy for this to include ace!Chu Shuzhi.
(Note: I’m not super interested in Ye Zun being part of this scenario in a domestic way. Leave him alive in Dixing or dead and let Shen Wei have big feelings about that, or just handwave him away.) </li>

Zhao Yunlan
Zhao Yunlan is a very complex/nuanced character and I love him so much!! I love how smart and competent and intuitive and focused he is, despite being an absolute disaster at housekeeping and cooking and looking after himself. I love the way he was raised by cats (well, cat) in the way he lounges everywhere and in his conception of personal space (the way he drapes himself over all available surfaces - including Shen Wei when he thinks he can get away with it!!!). I love watching him make absolutely impossible but absolutely correct mental leaps because he's just that good. I love that he's a stone-cold perfect shot and I don't think there's enough made of the way he canonically just casually shoots people behind him without even looking - and he does it at least twice that I can recall (YOHE final battle, outside the SID when he gets briefly taken hostage). I love how despite his well crafted disreputable / casual mask he's actually incredibly competent and I love BAMF Zhao Yunlan. I love the way canon shows him falling in love with Shen Wei - almost despite himself, at first, and then accepting it with his usual intensity/focus, how he just goes all in with everything he has. I LOVE HIM :D

Shen Wei
I love Shen Wei, YOHE/bb Shen Wei, I love his suits, his robes, his sleeve garters, his pocket chain, the way you can tell whether he's Professor Shen or Heipaoshi just by the look on his face and the narrowing of his eyes. I love his competence, his intelligence, his power/grace/elegance, his Dixingren powers, the way he fights... ahhh BAMF Shen Wei is so good. I love that he was a child soldier and a hardened warlord but underneath the mask his gentle kind heart survived, just waiting for Kunlun to uncover it. I love the way YOHE/bb Shen Wei unfurls like a flower in the sun, I love his dedication to his soldiers, his long hair, and the way he commits to Kunlun even beyond the favour he thinks is owed. I love how modern Heipaoshi is so committed to his people, trying to balance his duties with his desire for Dixingren to have a better life. I love the idea that he might still have long hair under the mask and cloak. And I love how he loves - fiercely, completely, and with no take-backs. He's utterly devoted to Zhao Yunlan and it's clear in canon that he still loves Ye Zun, even after everything. I LOVE HIM :D

Ye Zun 
I think Ye Zun got a raw deal and more childhood trauma than any person could need. I think he deserves safety and a chance to heal from his (many) traumas. I like thinking about canon AUs where things go better for him - ways YOHE could have been different if Shen Wei had found him earlier, if they'd had a moment more to talk before the Hallows intervened; ways the modern canon could have diverged. I also like thinking about post-canon AUs where Ye Zun comes back along with Weilan - how does he make reparations when he's already been imprisoned for ten thousand years? How does he build a life out of the ashes of trauma and war?

Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan
I love the way they had a snap-lock connection between them in both of their meet-cutes! Even when bb Shen Wei (with Kunlun) and modern Zhao Yunlan (with Professor Shen) don't know what's going on, the intensity of their connection is undeniable and still very present. I love the way they work seamlessly together, both pre- and post- identity reveal, and the way they commnicate almost instinctively when they're coordinating on something. I love the way Shen Wei does his cute little head-duck-smile, and the way he looks at Zhao Yunlan with ten thousand years of longing and devotion. I love the way they trust each other even when Zhao Yunlan has no reason to, but does it anyway. I love "who hurt you? I'll kill them", because Zhao Yunlan is every bit as fierce as Shen Wei is in protecting the one he loves. I love competence and trust and battle husbands, I love caretaking and looking after each other, I love long hair and mutual hair-tending and small moments of intimacy amongst the chaos, and I love that they know each other, that they can see through each other's masks. I LOVE THEM

Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan/Ye Zun
I'm okay with Shen Wei/Ye Zun but only as a prelude/lead up to Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan/Ye Zun - Zhao Yunlan should be an essential part of their relationship please!
I've enjoyed reading fics exploring how Ye Zun would fit into Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan's relationship, both in YOHE and post-canon (or during canon in a canon-divergence AU). Give me communication, negotiation, complicated feelings about love and family and devotion and never abandoning each other ever again!

SID Team as Family
I love Zhao Yunlan & Da Qing and their relationship; they clearly love each other a lot and I love how it's clear that Da Qing is always Zhao Yunlan's cat only sometimes he's Haixingren shaped; I love how Shen Wei fits into their dynamic and becomes part of it. I love the SID Team being family, and supporting Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei through everything, no matter whether that's an invasion of Haixing, political machinations from the Ministry / Supervisory Office, or Zhao Xinci being an asshole.

Fandom: Guardian 2018 (I have never read the book, so I’m specifically the show)

Fandom specific likes: No one dies lol. I’m not picky if it’s just handwaved away, like yeah the end didn’t happen that way and it’s not important how it didn’t happen or seriously fixing the world that was super broken by SW and ZYL dying.

My preferred ship for the fandom is CSZ/GCC, but I’m also a total sucker for the main pairing. My preferred read of CSZ/GCC is that they aren’t together at the end of the series (as GCC’s aunt and uncle are sending him out on a date), but it’s pretty obvious that at least CSZ is head over heels for him. I love them as a “didn’t know we were dating” as well as just taking care of each other. It’s all so wonderful. And hidden soulmates would also be lovely.

For SW/ZYL, I actually like their relationship as sort of frozen because of their lives and the plot. They’re aware that the other loves him (especially after YOHE), but they just can’t cross that line into a real relationship that involves more than Significant glances and sometimes handholding. I love that as the tragedy of what happened, that even though they were in love, they didn’t get to be together.

I’m a sucker, too, for how Da Qing fits into their lives because he’s a cat who happens to sometimes live on two feet (gross). I also love team as a family. I like all these characters as BAMFs. Like yes, whump happens, but by the end of the show, even GCC can moderately kick ass.

And the show plays so fast and lose with what’s happening at any given moment, there could be random Magic Reasons that CSZ or SW get hurt!

Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan have my entire heart, and I would love something small but significant concerning them, with other SID team members involved or not. A snapshot of their lives; not every day is an epic adventure but there's always something. A drabble. A poem. A sketch of their new house, post-canon. An unusual outside POV of their relationship. Da Qing's helpful and slightly alarming tips for SID newbies.

You will always make me happy with any kind of visual medium--picspam, fanart, gifs, a vid--that focuses on Shen Wei, particularly one where he's being badass or secretly pining (which covers about 80% of the show, I know). Special love and attention for his sleeve garters, the Ass Chain, his skill with a weapon, his devotion to Zhao Yunlan, that scene where he's all bloody and drags himself up his glaive hand over fist, and those goddamn eyelashes.

Fandom: Zhu Yilong
Same goes for Zhu Yilong: you will always make me happy with any kind of visual--picspam, fanart, gifs, a vid--that focuses on him. He's my eye candy and my heart's ease. I love him in terrible fashion, and I love him looking so debonair and intense that the camera ought to burn out with it.

I have a special love for behind-the-scenes photos where he's being gently attacked with a floofy brush, or that moment after the Rain Scene where the entire crew is wrapping him in towels. There are probably bts moments like that from his more recent shows/movies that I haven't seen yet! No spoilers for his latest two movies, please.

Fanart for these beloved stories that aren't mine. I checked, and the authors all have a transformative works policy that welcomes fanart. I am besotted with this amazing Lost Tomb Reboot AU with supernatural elements, where Wu Xie is a vampire (though that's not the focus of the story). It is a universe I wish I could live in, provided I was a witch or something. And the author sketched a little addendum <a href="https://archiveofourown.org/comments/506202958">in this comment</a> that has me hungry for fanart.

A heartbreaking, wonderfully intense Guardian AU where Zhao Yunlan makes a deal to bargain for Shen Wei's return to life. I would love to see fanart for this Zhu Hong and the world she lives in.

A standout Guardian fic that dials up the intensity of its angst and hurt/comfort to industrial levels, I love it so much. The hellish dream world would make for a fabulous backdrop for art, with Zhao Yunlan and (spoiler) fighting to save Shen Wei.
