-Jiajia helping Shen Wei either knowingly or not :D I am also a fan of her somehow finding out he’s HPS and helping to keep his secret under wraps.
-Fluff / Slice of Life: I love reading what the SID and pairings do in their daily life and how they navigate it around all the supernatural aspects of their life.
-AUs: My brain is totally stuck on an AU where the SID cast goes back to YOHE and helps YOHE Shen Wei and Kunlun. I’m cool with changing the episode or if it’s another story that has the team going back to YOHE time for whatever reasons.
-World-Building: In episode 23 it shows a radio in a Dixing palace bedroom :D I would love to see stories expanding on what exactly Dixing radio looked/sounded like XD XD Sekret messages? Radio plays? Emergency broadcast system? I’m down for it all and think it would be interesting to explore (thanks to Trobadora for posting the scene discussion! :D

I love "Higher" for Zhao Yunlan's daddy issues; there's a subtle anger under the poppy tune and raspy voice that goes well with Yunlan's tendency to hide his own angst under all the slutty swagger. I'm glad you think so too!

Author's note: A brief response to Acoyotewhowanders's prompts, "Any stories describing Chu Shuzhi and Guo Changcheng getting officially together" and "Any stories in Chu Shuzhi's POV."

"You're riding with us, right?" said Chief Zhao as we left the restaurant and stepped outside into the rapidly falling darkness.

"Yes," I said. Zhao Yunlan headed out toward the parking lot with the rest of our group.

Changcheng put a hand on my arm to stop me as I was about to follow the others. "Just a moment, Chu-ge, please," he said, and then called out to Zhao Yunlan, "We'll be along in a minute!" Zhao Yunlan nodded and waved his hand without turning around.

Then Changcheng turned to me and said, "I'm sorry I put you on the spot back there, Chu-ge. Thanks for playing along."

He didn't stammer; he barely hesitated. Someone who didn't know him as well as I do wouldn't have even noticed the faint tremor in his voice.

He honestly thought that I might be offended? How did he miss the tear I couldn't hold back? How did he miss the way I kissed him? How did he miss my fingers entwined with his through the rest of the meal?

Apparently he was giving me credit for being a far better actor than I really am. "Dumbass," I said without heat.

"Chu-ge," he said softly. Changcheng uses "Chu-ge" to mean a lot of different things. I hoped I understood him now.

I took his hands in mine again, pulled him closer, and kissed him. Not for show this time, but for real. Into that kiss, I put everything I'd been trying so hard not to admit to myself, everything I'd been holding back from saying to him.

And oh, how he responded. He dropped my hands and wrapped his arms around me—one around my shoulders and one behind my head, his fingers stroking through my hair.

As for me, I wrapped my arms around his waist and pulled him right up against me. We'd been standing a few inches apart, but now there was nothing between us. No space, no restraint, no self-deception.

Time stood still for a moment ... until I heard a sensor click and the restaurant's nighttime floodlights came on around us. A horn honked. "C'mon, guys, let's go!" shouted the chief.

"Wait!" hollered Da Qing. "I want one more picture! Lao Chu and Xiao Guo, hold that pose!" Far be it from us to withhold a favor requested by a colleague, especially when it gave us the chance to stay as we were for a few more moments.

All too soon we pulled apart reluctantly and ran to the Jeep. We squeezed into the back seat next to Da Qing, who was peering at the back of his phone and grinning. "Nice silhouette, guys," he said. "I can't wait to show this pic to everyone."

I rolled my eyes, but Changcheng said, "Just think, Chu-ge. Now we won't have to answer any questions about whether we meant what we said in the restaurant."

Da Qing finished tapping--presumably sending the photo to everyone he had ever met in his ten-thousand-year lifetime--and handed the phone to Changcheng, whose whole face lit up with a smile. "You're right, Brother Cat, it is a nice picture," he said happily.

He handed me the phone. I looked at the picture, and saw Changcheng and me in a close embrace, our silhouettes outlined by the light behind us. It did look kind of artsy, and something about it made my heart feel warm, instead of embarrassed. "It doesn't suck," I said, handing the phone back.

"A ringing endorsement," laughed Zhao Yunlan from the front seat.

"I look forward to seeing the photo," said Shen Wei, a smile audible in his voice. "Though I'm sure it can't compare to the real thing."

I took Changcheng's hand. "You're right about that, Lord Envoy," I said. Changcheng squeezed my hand in agreement.
