NB. I have "smoking" on my general DNWs, please note mentions of ZYL's canonical pre-canon smoking habit are okay but please don't make this a big part of any story and no artwork featuring smoking please.

A note about the drama ending: I am fine with the canonical drama ending on the understanding that there will be a fix-it being applied that will end up with Weilan being together and in love back in the real/canon world. So if your post-canon fic starts with the canonical main character death that's fine as long as it also applies the fix and ends happily. (You are also welcome to avert the ending instead, of course!)

Zhao Yunlan
Zhao Yunlan is a very complex/nuanced character and I love him so much!! I love how smart and competent and intuitive and focused he is, despite being an absolute disaster at housekeeping and cooking and looking after himself. I love the way he was raised by cats (well, cat) in the way he lounges everywhere and in his conception of personal space (the way he drapes himself over all available surfaces - including Shen Wei when he thinks he can get away with it!!!). I love watching him make absolutely impossible but absolutely correct mental leaps because he's just that good. I love that he's a stone-cold perfect shot and I don't think there's enough made of the way he canonically just casually shoots people behind him without even looking - and he does it at least twice that I can recall (YOHE final battle, outside the SID when he gets briefly taken hostage). I love how despite his well crafted disreputable / casual mask he's actually incredibly competent and I love BAMF Zhao Yunlan. I love the way canon shows him falling in love with Shen Wei - almost despite himself, at first, and then accepting it with his usual intensity/focus, how he just goes all in with everything he has. I LOVE HIM :D

Shen Wei
I love Shen Wei, YOHE/bb Shen Wei, I love his suits, his robes, his sleeve garters, his pocket chain, the way you can tell whether he's Professor Shen or Heipaoshi just by the look on his face and the narrowing of his eyes. I love his competence, his intelligence, his power/grace/elegance, his Dixingren powers, the way he fights... ahhh BAMF Shen Wei is so good. I love that he was a child soldier and a hardened warlord but underneath the mask his gentle kind heart survived, just waiting for Kunlun to uncover it. I love the way YOHE/bb Shen Wei unfurls like a flower in the sun, I love his dedication to his soldiers, his long hair, and the way he commits to Kunlun even beyond the favour he thinks is owed. I love how modern Heipaoshi is so committed to his people, trying to balance his duties with his desire for Dixingren to have a better life. I love the idea that he might still have long hair under the mask and cloak. And I love how he loves - fiercely, completely, and with no take-backs. He's utterly devoted to Zhao Yunlan and it's clear in canon that he still loves Ye Zun, even after everything. I LOVE HIM :D

Ye Zun
I think Ye Zun got a raw deal and more childhood trauma than any person could need. I think he deserves safety and a chance to heal from his (many) traumas. I like thinking about canon AUs where things go better for him - ways YOHE could have been different if Shen Wei had found him earlier, if they'd had a moment more to talk before the Hallows intervened; ways the modern canon could have diverged. I also like thinking about post-canon AUs where Ye Zun comes back along with Weilan - how does he make reparations when he's already been imprisoned for ten thousand years? How does he build a life out of the ashes of trauma and war?

Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan
I love the way they had a snap-lock connection between them in both of their meet-cutes! Even when bb Shen Wei (with Kunlun) and modern Zhao Yunlan (with Professor Shen) don't know what's going on, the intensity of their connection is undeniable and still very present. I love the way they work seamlessly together, both pre- and post- identity reveal, and the way they commnicate almost instinctively when they're coordinating on something. I love the way Shen Wei does his cute little head-duck-smile, and the way he looks at Zhao Yunlan with ten thousand years of longing and devotion. I love the way they trust each other even when Zhao Yunlan has no reason to, but does it anyway. I love "who hurt you? I'll kill them", because Zhao Yunlan is every bit as fierce as Shen Wei is in protecting the one he loves. I love competence and trust and battle husbands, I love caretaking and looking after each other, I love long hair and mutual hair-tending and small moments of intimacy amongst the chaos, and I love that they know each other, that they can see through each other's masks. I LOVE THEM

Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan/Ye Zun
I'm okay with Shen Wei/Ye Zun but only as a prelude/lead up to Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan/Ye Zun - Zhao Yunlan should be an essential part of their relationship please!
I've enjoyed reading fics exploring how Ye Zun would fit into Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan's relationship, both in YOHE and post-canon (or during canon in a canon-divergence AU). Give me communication, negotiation, complicated feelings about love and family and devotion and never abandoning each other ever again!

SID Team as Family
I love Zhao Yunlan & Da Qing and their relationship; they clearly love each other a lot and I love how it's clear that Da Qing is always Zhao Yunlan's cat only sometimes he's Haixingren shaped; I love how Shen Wei fits into their dynamic and becomes part of it. I love the SID Team being family, and supporting Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei through everything, no matter whether that's an invasion of Haixing, political machinations from the Ministry / Supervisory Office, or Zhao Xinci being an asshole.

Certainly don't feel beholden to any of these if you have another idea that fits any of the above! ♥

✯ Identity shenanigans - pre-Hei Pao Shi identity reveal and Shen Wei juggling his identities; other ways Zhao Yunlan could have found out. I love a big reveal and Shen Wei's identity reveal could have happened so many other ways! Other people finding out is also great, although I'd prefer Zhao Yunlan already be in the know in that case.

✯ Time travel shenanigans - Not just YOHE (although baby Shen Wei does make me go feral!). Post-canon time travel fix-its have so many possibilities! Do they both go back? Does only one of them go back? How far back do they go? Who do they tell? What do they change? *wriggles in delight*

✯ More specific time-travel thoughts because my brain wouldn't shut up: is the Guardian Treaty affected? It seems like kind of a nebulous thing in the drama but we know it does have some physical effects eg. it limits Shen Wei's dark energy powers when he's on Haixing - so is the identity of the Lord Guardian also set by the Treaty? Does Shen Wei start recognising teenage Zhao Yunlan as the Lord Guardian of Haixing? How does Zhao Xinci react? :D

✯ Post-Canon fix-its - they said they were going to meet again, so they'll meet again for sure! Do they come back to life? How does Zhao Yunlan get out of the lantern without screwing Dixing over? Please show me their happy ending :3

✯ Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan taking care of / looking after each other. I love a good hurt/comfort story! Show me Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan protecting each other in battle / during a case, helping one another with an injury, covering each other with jackets/blankets, caring for each other, loving each other ♥

✯ BAMF Weilan battle husbands! Fighting together, coordinating seamlessly against enemies, bb Shen Wei and Kunlun fighting together / protecting each other in YOHE. Let them be badass :3

✯ HAIR! Shen Wei with long hair, post-YOHE Zhao Yunlan grows his hair out, Zhao Yunlan comes back from YOHE with long hair and keeps it, hair brushing, washing / braiding each other's hair, HAIR TENDING *vibrates in place*

✯ Ye Zun experiencing empathy and kindness for the first time in his very long and traumatic life and having no idea how to deal with all of these emotions &_&

✯ YOHE *takes a deep breath* bb Shen Wei and being overcome with feelings for Kunlun, bb Shen Wei having never felt like this before, bb Shen Wei struggling with someone seeing him for who he is not just as Heipaoshi/for what he can do.

✯ Post-canon everyone lives happiness, +/- Ye Zun. Show me rebuilding lives, healing from trauma, and working for a brighter and integrated future.

✯ Post-canon Weilan building their new life together, domestic happiness, Shen Wei introducing Zhao Yunlan to his friends.
